Planning Compassion

By Tee Rogers

Wellness is a personal journey. Along the path, we impact others’ well-being. There are so many ways we care for the wellness of those around us. Our compassion connects us.

In my role as a funeral and cemetery professional, i see the impacts every day of sudden, unexpected, or unplanned death. My heart breaks for everyone facing a loss, but especially for those who don’t know what to do, don’t know what their loved one would have wanted, and who are struggling (and often arguing) to make choices under duress.

Many think that death is something that you deal with when it happens, but that time of grief and loss is not the time to be making heavy emotional financial and emotional decisions. Those decisions can be made in advance.

Pre-Planning is a simple act of compassion for whoever will be handling our arrangements. Peace of mind for you, solace for them. One last time, your voice will be there to guide them.

Whether you are in your 20s or nearing or past retirement, today is the day you should meet with someone. Know your options, costs, resources & tools to make that day easier on your family. It’s never too early to have information, is it?

May is Mental Health Month. Will you take this step today to make a future difference for those you love?
